1. Creating Custom Field

Please follow the steps mentioned below to create custom field which you can use to link Jira Issues

  • Click on Settings icon and then click on Issues.

  • Click on “Custom Fields“

    •  

  • Click on “Create custom field“.

  • Select the type of Custom field you want to create. Select “Single Link Custom Field“ if you want to link single issue. Select “Multi Link Custom Field“ if you want to link multiple issues.

    •  

  • Click on Next and then enter the Custom Field Name and Description and then create the custom Field.

  • Add the custom field to the appropriate Screens.

2. Configuring Custom Field

Follow the steps mentioned below to configure the custom field and define which issues it will display for linking:

  • Click on Settings icon and then click on Issues.

  • Click on “Custom Fields“ and then search the custom field which you want to configure.

    •  

  • Click on Contexts and default value.

    •  

  • Click on “Edit custom field config“

    •  

  • Setup the configuration as follows:

    • JQL for linking Issues: Enter the JQL which will define which issues will be displayed in the custom field for linking.

    • Select link type: Select the link type which will be used for linking the issues.

    • Select link direction: Select the link direction which will be used for linking the issues.
